FALL 2020 MAKE IT PROGRAM MakeIt Reopening Plan for 2020 Dear Parents, As you know things are going to be different this year, and that includes the MakeIt program. I wanted to give you an update on our plans. Yes, we will have Makeit, with lots of tweaks. Here’s how it will work: Makeit will be open on Monday thru Thursday, afterschool only, for now. We will be open afterschool until 6 PM. We will not be open on Fridays at this time. Your child will only be able to come on the days they are in school. If there is no school, there is no MakeIt. You will have a contract as always. You will not have to pay if there is no Makeit, but you will still have to pay if your child is absent. We will not accept drop ins at this time without prior approval. We will be practicing social distancing at MakeIt, including masks, 6 feet apart, and handwashing. We will have scheduled restroom breaks, and clean between uses. We will have mask breaks, and as much outside time as we can. We will have a snack each day. Snacks will be prepackaged and distributed individually to the kids. Each child will have an assigned spot, assigned cubby for supplies, and assigned hook for backpacks/coats, etc. If your child is sick, they will be sent home. I will have individually packaged activities for each child to use as needed. These will either be disposable, or sanitized after use. Pick up will be at the Chestnut Street Doors. Staff will meet parents at the door and send your child to you. We will sign the child out. Payments can be either cash or check given to staff at the door, or sent in an envelope marked “MakeIt”. Elementary Schools - Shuttle buses each morning leave at 7:50. Please have your shuttle rider at their schools by 7:45. We want to get your kiddos to and from the buildings. Thank you for your help.

Notes from the Elementary School Nurse: Hello everyone! We are very excited for this school year. Below are some things to keep in mind as we prepare to go back to start school on Monday. Please refer to the school health guidelines and the algorithm that is on the website for specific guidelines. However, here are a few important things to remember: Be prepared, your child can be sent home for ANY COVID-like symptoms, such as; cough, difficulty breathing, loss of taste/smell, temperate 100.4 or greater, congestion, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, headache, or myalgia. They will need to remain home until cleared by a healthcare provider or for 10 days, per IDPH guidelines. If you’re keeping your child home for any of the above mentioned symptoms or exposure to a positive COVID case, all members in the household must remain out of school. All children may return to school once the child with symptoms has been cleared to return by their healthcare provider. Also, at drop off, if a student is found to have a temperature of 100.4 or greater, that child will return home, as well as all household siblings. If the child or any household members have been in direct contact with a positive COVID case, all household members must remain home for 14 days. If your child has seasonal allergies, please administer allergy meds before school, otherwise child could be sent home for allergy symptoms as they may resemble Covid symptoms. Please send your child to school with a full water bottle. Students will be encouraged to stay hydrated to limit headaches from dehydration. Water fountains will be closed. The school nurse needs all emergency medications (Inhalers, Epi-pens, Benadryl, Diastat) brought to the school for any hybrid learners as soon as possible. Also, completed action plans and medication orders need to be turned in as well. Please call the school to update all emergency contacts. If your child needs sent home throughout the school day, it is important that we are able to reach someone and the child is picked up promptly. Please have several masks for your children, as they should be laundered frequently and rotated. No bandanas is neck gaiters are acceptable. I understand that this school year will look different than years past and we want to work together to create a safe, sustainable and nurturing place for the students to return to. We have been working closely with the Montgomery County Health Department and have created our guidelines based off of current CDC and IDPH guidelines. FULL REMOTE STUDENTS: Your classes will begin on Monday, August 17th no later than 9:00 am. HYBRID STUDENTS: Cohort A starts on Monday, August 17th Cohort B starts on Tuesday, August 18th (Congratulations, you get one extra day of summer break!)

Reminder: If your child is a remote learner, you will need to pick up their remote learning supplies from their school either tomorrow or Thursday between the hours of 8 -3. This pick-up is for REMOTE LEARNERS ONLY! We look forward to seeing you soon!
