New Student Information
Welcome to the Litchfield School District! We are excited that you are considering our school district to educate your children. As a district, we work extremely hard to meet the needs of each of our students in a caring learning environment. We are confident that you will be impressed by both our school facilities and the staff that teach in every school in our district.
As a district, we educate our elementary students through the use of the attendance center concept. This means that all district students in our pre-K program (3 and 4-year-old students) and our students in kindergarten and first grade attend Litchfield Early Childhood Center (LECC) Students in second through fifth grade attend Litchfield Elementary School (LES). Our students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades attend Litchfield Middle School (LMS), while our high school students attend Litchfield High School (LHS). All of our buildings are well maintained and air conditioned which is very much appreciated as we begin and end each school year.
To register your child in the Litchfield School District, you will need to take him/her to the school that houses his/her appropriate grade level. Our building secretaries and principals will provide any necessary assistance to make this challenging transition as smooth as possible for you and your child.
As required by law, we will also need to prove your residency in the district. This can be accomplished by providing three proofs of residency which should include documents dated within the last 30 days with your new Litchfield address including: a mortgage or lease agreement; utility bills to include water, electricity, or gas bills. Additional items can be approved by the building principal.
For students who may be considered homeless, resources and additional information is available through the Illinois State Board of Education.
Again, if there is anything we can do to help you through this process, please let us know!
