The Litchfield Middle School 8th Grade Teachers hosted their 4th Annual Career Day on Friday, April 19th. Students were treated to keynote speaker Earl Flack, President/CEO of McKay/NAPA Auto Parts to start their day. Earl is one of the great success stories of our region. As he went from working behind an auto parts counter out of high school to becoming a president of a $45 million dollar company headquartered in Litchfield, IL.
Students also had the opportunity to choose 2 local career path speakers during the remainder of the morning. Career path speaker choices included veterinarian science, military, fire science, beautician, construction, physical therapy, personal training, dental hygienist, newspaper publisher, CPA/accounting, engineering & small business owner.
In the afternoon students were treated to two 45 minute tours of Dometic (Manufacturing) in Litchfield, IL and The Red Rooster Inn (Entrepreneurship) in Hillsboro, IL. As part of these tours students learned about job opportunities within a local manufacturing setting and they also learned about a very successful business started by a local entrepreneur from Hillsboro, IL.
