LHS Parents! The initial window to sign up for the Summer 2024 trip to Ireland is rapidly closing! Tomorrow night is the deadline to save $200 and to make sure that monthly payments are spread out across 20 months in order to stay manageable. If you missed the RSVP for last week's meeting but want information, please email scress@litchfieldpanthers.org. Mr. Cress will send you the details. Remember--once we hit 30 travelers, we have a Litchfield-only trip! Either way, it's going to be a wonderful time!

Parents, We're traveling to Europe in 2024 and having a meeting next Tuesday to discuss the details. Wait a minute--didn't you already have a meeting about this, Mr. Cress? I'm glad you asked--no, I did not! That meeting was for the summer of 2023. However, I am launching travel for summer of 2024 this fall as well, because I want to be announcing trips 2 years ahead of time to give families and students plenty of time to figure out how to pay for the trips. So we're going again! Next Tuesday, October 11, I'm having a meeting at the Unit Office auditorium at 7:00 pm. We'll talk about all the trip details, including the most important to everyone: when will it happen, where are we going, and what does it cost? Sign up to attend the meeting at this link. And if you can't make the meeting but want the information, there's a place at the link to sign up for info, too! https://bit.ly/3frq8UU Hope to see you there! Mr. Cress

Saturday, October 1st the FAFSA will open. All students, unless they decide to complete the FAFSA Non-participation form, must complete the FAFSA as it is now a graduation requirement for all students in the state of Illinois. Financial aid is given on a first come, first served basis. Students that apply first may receive more scholarships than students in the exact same financial situations who apply at a later date. This is even true for college scholarships. Most colleges want to make sure their students receive as much financial aid through the FAFSA before they give out any of their institution scholarships. Some colleges even give need and/or some merit based scholarships out in order of completion of the FAFSA. So please make sure you file your FAFSA on October 1st or soon thereafter. Go to https://studentaid.gov/. The FAFSA questions ask for information about you (your name, date of birth, address, etc.) and about your financial situation. Depending on your circumstances (for instance, whether you’re a U.S. citizen or what tax form you used), you might need the following information or documents as you fill out the application: Your Social Security number (it’s important that you enter it correctly on the FAFSA form!) Your parents’ Social Security numbers if you are a dependent student Your driver’s license number if you have one Your Alien Registration number if you are not a U.S. citizen Federal tax information or tax returns including IRS W-2 information, for you (and your spouse, if you are married), and for your parents if you are a dependent student: IRS 1040 Foreign tax return, IRS 1040NR, or IRS 1040NR-EZ Tax return for Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, or Palau Records of your untaxed income, such as child support received, interest income, and veterans noneducation benefits, for you, and for your parents if you are a dependent student Information on cash; savings and checking account balances; investments, including stocks and bonds and real estate (but not including the home in which you live); and business and farm assets for you, and for your parents if you are a dependent student. You will also need to be able to electronically sign your application with a FSA ID. You and your parent will need an FSA ID. Go to https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id to create or manage your ID. If you need any assistance with filing the FAFSA Lincoln Land Community College will have a Financial Aid and FAFSA Completion Meeting on October 6th from 3-6pm. You do not have to be attending LLCC in order to take advantage of this opportunity. This is a local resource provided to any high school student and family who wishes to participate. Registration is highly recommended since FAFSA completion is a confidential matter. To register for the FAFSA event, please visit www.llcc.edu/litchfield, call 217-786-3401, or email llcc-litchfield@llcc.edu. The event will take place at Lincoln Land Community college- Litchfield, #1 Lincoln Land Drive, Litchfield, IL. Please see the attached flier for more information.

Hello, parents. Just a quick reminder: 2023 European travel meeting tonight! Paris is one of the 4 main destinations (they're hosting the 2024 Olympics, which is why we can't go there in mid-to-late July in 2024). If you are planning to attend the meeting, please RSVP here: https://bit.ly/3TbSPVd. I might need to change the meeting location to the new Unit Office building (previously Living Stones Church) as I have a fairly large crowd already signed up, so please please RSVP if you're coming. Also, a clarification from last week: the link here is to RSVP for the meeting, not to sign up for the trip. THAT link will be provided AT the meeting. Hope to see you there! Mr. Cress
